Dipping our wheels in the Pacific

This didn't work out quite as we had planned. We are standing in salt water, but the wider ocean is actually behind that rock wall. To get there we would have had to carry the tandem 300 yards over sand and rocks while battling 40 mph winds. So we called it close enough for government work.

The posts sticking out of the water are what remain of an "old growth" dock that now serves as an attraction for marine life (e.g., we saw an otter on the river today).
